The advanced bot scoring API is a powerful new tool in your arsenal. It enables you to better detect the presence of malicious automated traffic by detecting unique behavioral traits, and by identifying tools used to create bots. It reduces the damaging effects of false positives by limiting blocking to only those paths that pose a real threat. By focusing on your key pain point first, you can block bots without affecting legitimate traffic. Then, as you see success, you can gradually expand the scope of protection.
Use an IP Blocklist for Proactive Threat Mitigation
Edgecast’s Bot Management solution identifies and takes action on automated traffic based on a score that is generated for each request. The score ranges from 0 (human) to 100 (bot), and is based on detection of various anomalies, starting from the very first request. The score is constantly updated by our threat research and data science teams. Customers can use the Bot Management dashboard to view a variety of analytics, including performance charts and percentages of bot traffic detected across their zones.
For example, the dashboard shows all requests, broken down by good bots (such as search engine crawlers and site monitors) and bad bots (including those using known bulletproof proxy vendors and stolen credentials). Similarly, you can view the number of attacks, their severity, and the total value of losses from each attack type. These insights can help you refine your threat model, and improve the overall effectiveness of your protection.
